Pastor Darius A. Jones is a charismatic leader, visionary, and provocative thinker who serves as the Senior Pastor of the City of Hope Church. An astute business professional and preeminent scholar, Pastor Jones attended Georgia State University where he attained a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance; and went on to the Interdenominational Theological Center to attain a Masters in Divinity.
Pastor Jones is a pastor with a global mission, which is to empower the people of God with a word for a well-balanced life. He believes that the body of Christ should be empowered in every area of life. His teaching focuses on empowering believers spiritually, developing them educationally, and strengthening them economically.
Coming out of a strict Pentecostal background, Pastor Jones has been charged to restore the message of hope and faith to the community by breaking the barriers of tradition. His experiences nurtured his unique call to the ministry of reconciliation and honed his distinct ability to transcend tradition in his delivery of the gospel, through widening spiritual parameters in order to reach diverse people of manifold backgrounds, cultures, and denominations.
In October 2010, Pastor Jones was instructed by God to launch "The Refreshing Family Praise Center" in Conley, Georgia. However, after three years in Conley, the Lord moved the church to Decatur, Georgia with a new name and charge. The new sanctuary, now known as the "City of Hope Church" accommodates a growing membership who attends each week to be recharged and transformed by teaching and preaching that can be applied to their unique situation.
He is the husband of Elect Lady Blair Jones and the father of many that consider him their spiritual father.
A. The Bible - The Bible, the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God to all men (2 Timothy 3:16). It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21). It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
B. God - There is one God, Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1). He has eternally existed in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
C. Jesus Christ - Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:22-23). Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross (Hebrews 4:14-15). He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He ascended to heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Acts 1:9-11; Revelations 19:11-16).
D. The Holy Spirit - The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict persons of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service (John 16:7-13). The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make persons aware of their need for Jesus Christ (John 16:7-13). The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right (Acts 1:8; John 16:7-13)
E. Gifts of the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit gives gifts to equip the believer for works of service. Every recipient of the Holy Spirit is given a manifestation of the Spirit. Every believer without exception is gifted in some manner by the Spirit for Christian service. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Ephesians 4:11)
F. Salvation - Salvation is a gift from God to humanity (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe (Hebrews 10:1-11; Romans 10:8-9). Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can humanity be saved from sin's penalty (Hebrews 7:25). Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian (Titus 3:4-5).
G. The Lord's Return - We believe in the return of Jesus Christ (Revelations 19:11-21). The true church will soon be raptured out, the world will be engulfed in the great tribulation, the Lord will return to raise and judge the wicked (Revelations 20:11-15), the wicked consigned to the lake of fired forever (Revelations 20:14-15, 21:27), and the saved to reign in the new earth with the Lord forever (Revelations 21:1-7, 22-27)
H. Baptism - Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (Colossians 2:9-12; Acts 2:41). It is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Baptism is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ (Matthew 28:19-20)
I. Communion - Communion, or the Lord's Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ's broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer's faith in the atoning work of the cross (Matthew 26:26-30; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
A. Mission Statement - To bring people to Jesus, develop them to Christ like maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God's name.
B. Vision Statement - The visionary goal of this ministry is designed to enrich the spiritual, physical, and emotional lives of individuals from all walks of life by exhibiting a genuine concern for others. Therefore, we will employ creative, innovative and progressive methods to reach the "total person". Our goal is to reach every man, woman, and child of all age groups and to promote the pursuit of various fields of education and other traits that will lead to a brighter day in our society.
